What happens when a Director directs themselves ?

Over the Yuletide season i came up with a stupid idea, that was to take on the decision to do a short starring myself, on the basis as an aim to become a better director by the directing the most diffilcult person i know myself.

Im shooting it next week, its called Killing Amy and is basicly a cascade of monoluge s, but it is spookily turning into a most serious project and im looking quite forward to seeing the result

anyone else ever directed themselves ?

Yes, I always star in the films I direct. Depending where you're shooting it, just get someone else to operate the camera. Tell them what you're going to do, and do it.

The only thing I hate is that all my friends are inexperienced and don't know how to create good shots with the camera whilst im acting. (I consider myself a v good DOP you see).

telling someone else what it is im going to do isnt directing myself if you get my drift.

as mention its a serious of monlouges and i have a cunning plan, involving several cables two cameras a projector and two screens.(and a strobe light!=-wohooo) but i will be playing everythign back after each take.

but expanding on my theory behind this, I know as a director the performance i want, Im not an actor so the challenge is to get the performance i want as a director out of myself. giving it the full stani boy slolaski treatment as well.

tell you what is seriopusly cewl though is connecting the video out of a camera to a projector, flipping on the strobe then filming the projected image with teh strobe through the camera and yuo get this extremly cewl warp effect

No Chance what I meant is you direct them.

I mean, you can't expect them to know you're going to fall out of the window behind you, they'd miss the shot.

If you told them you wanted them to follow you up to the window, then you're directing them and yourself.
